System The Introduction of Two-Factor Authentication 2024-12-02
For your privacy protection,
2FA will be implemented on December 3, 2024.

What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

Two-factor authentication is a security service that adds an extra layer of protection after entering your username and password when logging in.
- Smartship login > Authenticate via device or email > Done
By setting up 2FA, even if someone learns your username and password, they cannot access your account without the second verification step.

How to use 2FA

You can set up two-factor authentication by going to the Two-Factor Authentication settings page or SmartShip Settings > Account Setting > Security Management.
*If 2FA is not set up, a reminder will be sent every 90 days.
At that time, you need, to register a recovery email to set up 2FA (see the 'How to register a recovery email' section below).

How to Register a Recovery Email

A recovery email is a method that can be used to access your account if you are unable to log in due to changes in account management (e.g., staff change or resignation).
Go to Setting > Account Setting> Security Management, and register a different email from your login email through email authentication.

Two-Factor Authentication Process

When logging in from a new device or a new browser that does not have 2FA enabled, authentication will be required through another device or the recovery email.
  • Device Authentication: Authenticate via notification on another logged-in device.
  • Recovery Email Authentication: Authenticate with registered recovery email authentication.
